Sunjay Kapoor

Sunjay is the CEO of the SONA Group. Sona BLW, of which Sunjay is the Managing Director in India and the Chairman of the Supervisory board in Germany, is an automotive component manufacturing company which enjoys the distinction of being the world’s largest manufacturer of precision forged gears with a global market share of 11%. With its 8 manufacturing plants spread across India (4), Germany (3) and Hungary (1), the company supplies gears to several globally leading OEMs and Tier 1 customers with a dominance in the Indian and European markets across all vehicle segments: passenger cars, trucks, and off highway vehicles.

Sunjay is a member of the executive committee of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) of India, and he heads the Electrical Mobility Committee for the association. Sunjay is also a member of the Northern Region Council of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII); as well as a member of the Governing Council of the Indian Public School Society (IPSS), a body that oversees the functioning of his alma mater, The Doon School. Sunjay did his schooling from The Doon School, India; following which he attended the Williston Northampton School in Massachusetts, USA. Sunjay graduated with a BBA from The University of Buckingham, UK, Sunjay also successfully completed the Owner President Management program at the Harvard Business School in February 2013.

An avid sportsman with a passion for Polo, he contributes to the sport not only by owning and playing for the Sona Polo Team, but also playing a critical role in taking an ancient game restricted to Royalty & Army to the corporate sector and help revive it in India.
